Train to be a Registered Clinical Psychotherapist

Starting right from scratch (if you have no experience in healthcare or talking therapies)
Choose between:

If you have some experience of working in healthcare or talking therapies then:

Step 1:

Becoming a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist is the ultimate badge of achievement for most therapists and mentors. The time it takes you to train will depend upon:

  • whether you have any relevant experience – please contact us if you think you may have – this may save you time and money during your training
  • whether you decide to simultaneously train to be a Registered Mindfulness Teacher or a Registered Mindfulness-based Therapist and Mentor.

Deciding to train to be a Registered Mindfulness Teacher or a Registered Mindfulness-based Therapist and Mentor at the same time can cost a little more, but it will not take you any longer to qualify. The advantages are:

  • Training to be a Registered Mindfulness-based Therapist, Mentor or Teacher takes less time than becoming a Registered Psychotherapist, so you are much more likely to get paid work whilst you are training.
  • You should have a wider variety of work – perhaps some days working with groups, others giving one-to-one therapy in mindfulness, other days giving therapy or hypnosis.
  • You should find yourself easier to market to the public, to group practices and to GPs and health providers because you will be able to offer a variety of NICE accredited skills.

If you definitely don’t want to include being a Registered Mindfulness Teacher or a Registered Mindfulness-based Therapist and Mentor in your plans, please pick this programme:

Professional Track for Hypnotherapists to become UKCP Registered Psychotherapists (9604 HypnosProfTrk)

If you are unsure, or do want to include being a Registered Mindfulness Teacher or a Registered Mindfulness-based Therapist and Mentor in your plans, please pick this programme:
The Professional Track for Counsellors to become UKCP Registered Psychotherapists (9603 CsllrsProfTrk)

Your fees will depend on that and whether you can be offered a Contract (if you would like one – Contracts are entirely optional). Please contact us using the form in Get more info if you think you might apply for a Contract to work with us – we can advance up to 50% of your fees.

Step 2:

Check out – or simply contact us and ask – when the next “8+All-Day” course with places is. These are the types we teach:
“8+All-Day” Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy Practice Course (4501 MPC in MBCT)

“8+All-Day” Mindfulness Practice Course for Pain or Anxiety (4504 MPC in PoA)

It doesn’t matter much which you start with, since on the Diplomas we will teach you how to deliver all of them. There are currently no grants or scholarships for “8+All-Days” – but booking early will reduce the price. The courses which run outside London have some half-price places for our students.
